I found the strong peaty flavors typical of Scotch to be unpleasant at first, but someone introduced me to a Macallan. It’s sweeter and much more palatable for us newbies, I think. Yum.
My uncle has a basement full of scotch. He opened one bottle for my cousin's wedding that I got to try. Definitely best scotch I've ever had, though I can't remember what it was now. Of course, it was about $150 a bottle. He did say that price means nothing when it comes to scotch (and whisky in general).
I think even the Macallan is out of my price range.
Sounds like a good uncle to have! I'm fortunate enough to have a wife who works in the liquor industry, I probably couldn't afford it either otherwise!
I like your story, particularly what it says about your grandfather helping someone out with a problem, going out of his way. Maybe life was slower back then, good people took the time. My grandfather was like that too. Brought a tear to my eye. Cheers!
Good story, Ken. It's a nice break from the headlines.

A beautiful story about the chair too.

Thanks, Lembit. Yes, I'm sure life was much slower back then. Not like that should be an excuse now, but I guess it is.
